Christmas Trees

Frog Hollow has a great selection of Christmas Trees, mostly around 7'-8' tall (with a few larger), including:

(see the descriptions at the bottom of the page)

We are a Choose and Cut tree farm, which means you may come out and tag a tree early (when the weather is nice) and come back to cut it from Thanksgiving to the week before Christmas. You can also just come on out between Thanksgiving and the week before Christmas and take your chances! We do have a great selection, so you should still be able to find a beautiful tree.

Tagging

You are welcome to come tag your tree now. Usually pre-tagging is done between Halloween and Thanksgiving. If no one seems to be here, there are tags and markers on the desk in the large red building on your left as you come up the driveway. Please write your name and phone number on the tag, then go on up the hill and tag your tree. Blocks of different varieties will be marked by green triangular signs.

Pricing

All our choose and cut trees are priced the same, regardless of size or variety. Trees are $33.02 plus 6% sales tax, so your total cost per tree is $35.00. That's it, no hidden costs!

Prices on dug trees vary. Contact us for more information.

We will be open every day from the Friday after Thanksgiving until Dec. 21, 9:00 AM until 4:30 PM - FIRM!

We supply everything you need, including the tags and saws. And yes, we drill your tree for a Stand Strait™ tree stand (again, free of charge as long as the tree is purchased here), net your tree for easy handling, and we can even help with light-weight rope to keep the tree secure on the trip home.

Variety Descriptions

Canaan Fir
This tree is similar to the Frazer fir, but bred to grow in this area. Its needles tend to be about one inch in length and have the bluish cast and similar growth patterns of the Frazer. Relatively new to the Christmas tree industry
Concolor Fir
These small, narrow needles are around 1" - 1½" in length and occur in rows. They have good foliage color, good needle retention, and a pleasing shape and aroma (citrusy!)
Douglas Fir
These soft needles are dark green - blue green in color and are approximately 1" - 1½" in length. The Douglas fir needles radiate in all directions from the branch. When crushed, these needles have a sweet fragrance. They are one of the top major Christmas tree species in the U.S.
Scotch Pine
Approximately 1" in length, these needles don’t even fall when they’re dry, providing excellent needle retention. The color is a bright green. The most common Christmas tree in the U.S., the scotch pine has an excellent survival rate, is easy to replant, has great keep-ability and will remain fresh throughout the holiday season.
White Pine
The largest pine in the U.S., the White Pine has soft, flexible needles and is bluish-green in color. Needles are 2½" - 5" long. White Pine’s have good needle retention, but have little aroma. They aren’t recommended for heavy ornaments.
Colorado Blue Spruce
Often used for stuffing pine-pillows, these sharp needles are 1" - 1½" in length. This species is bluish-gray in color and has a bad odor when needles are crushed. This Christmas tree has good symmetrical form and has an attractive blue foliage. It also has good needle retention.
Norway Spruce
Native to the great Baltic conifer forest of northern Europe, this tree has shiny dark green foliage with needles about ½" in length. The rich foliage can exhibit good needle retention with proper care.
